About Genoa

Genoa is an award winning community in the heart of Illinois' historic and beautiful Kishwaukee River Valley. Since 1996, it has been an Illinois Main Street Designated community. Illinois Main Street began in 1993 as a preservation based, economic development program sponsored by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.

Kishwaukee Valley Heritage Museum

This 1876 Depot features items of local history. Houses many items including the first horse-drawn hearse of DeKalb County.

Natural Resource Center
The Natural Resource Center is the only nature center in DeKalb County. Located in the beautiful Russell Woods Forest Preserve the Center offers a great stop for exploration and live animal viewing for all members of the family.
