Northern Illinois Farm Show

Northern Illinois Bridal Fair

January 10: Annual Bridal Fair at Holmes Student Center (Duke Ellinton Ballroom) with over 40 vendors to make your wedding planning easier. Hours are 1:00pm-4:00pm and admission is free. NIU Art Museum Pop Culture Exhibition Suite

January 19-March 5: Heroes, Villains and the American Zeitgeist Comic books from the Rare Books and Special Collections Department of the University Libraries, curated by Lynne Thomas. Exhibition is at Altgeld Hall in Room 116. Hours are Tuesday - Friday 10 - 5, Saturday 12 - 4 and by appointment for groups. January 19-March 5: Midwestern BLAB 2! 5 midwestern artists often featured on the pages of BLAB!, an acclaimed art anthology edited by Monte Beauchamp.  Artists: Don Colley, Tom Huck, Teresa James, C.J. Pyle, Fred Stonehouse. Curated by Monte Beauchamp. Exhibition is at Altgeld Hall in Room 116. Hours are Tuesday - Friday 10 - 5, Saturday 12 - 4 and by appointment for groups. Large format black and white woodblock prints by Mike Houston & Martin Mazorra of Cannonball Press, Brooklyn, NY.  ROOT HOG, OR DIE! explores the boom and bust in the economy, sharing an early American settler's philosopy of "work or die". Community Leaders' Breakfast

January 22: Plan now to attend State Senator Brad Burzynski’s Annual Community Leaders’ Breakfast Friday, Jan. 22, 7:30 a.m., at the Carls Fargo, in the Stratford Inn, 355 W. State St., Sycamore. Sen. Burzynski has invited federal, state and local candidates participating in the Primary Election Feb. 2. Sen. Burzynski also will share the latest news out of Springfield at the event. He has served in the state legislature since 1990, first in the House of Representatives. He was elected to the Senate in 1993, and serves in leadership as the Senate Republican Assistant Leader. Tickets are $40, and include a complete buffet breakfast. This year, Sen. Burzynski is offering a special ticket price of $25 to Precinct Committeemen. Northern Illinois University School of Theatre &  Dance Presents "Private Lives"

January 28-February 7:

Private Lives is a comedy about a divorced couple who meets again while each on their honeymoons with their new spouses. Not only has each remarried at the same time, but both new couples are also honeymooning in the same hotel in adjoining suites.

The audience will be seated on all four sides of the stage for the NIU School of Theatre and Dance production of Noel Coward’s Private Lives, which will be performed in the round in the Stevens Building Players Theatre Thursday, January 28 through Sunday, January 31 and Wednesday, February 3 through Sunday, February 7. Performances are 7:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the Stevens Building box office, located on the DeKalb campus, behind the Pizza Hut and McDonald’s restaurants on W. Lincoln Hwy., Monday through Thursday 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Friday 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and one hour before productions. Tickets range from 8-14 dollars and can also be ordered by phone at: 815-753-1600 or online at: www.niu.edu/theatre.
