IESA State Wrestling Meet--Convocation Center

March 12-13: The DeKalb Area CVB, the Convocation Center, and our community welcomes back the IESA State Wrestling Meet to DeKalb, Illinois. The meet weigh-ins start at 1:30pm on March 12th. Tickets for the event are available at the Convocation Center ticket office. Doors open to the public at 2:30pm on Friday the 12th and at 8:00am on Saturday the 13th. The ticket office closes at 6:30 pm on Friday the 12th and at 6:00pm on Saturday the 13th. Tickets are $5 for students (K-8 and Seniors; 62 and up) and $10 for all others. Parking is available at the Convocation Center for $5. The Convocation Center is located at 1525 W. Lincoln Hwy., in DeKalb, Illinois. For more information visit: www.convocenter.niu.edu. Ron White Behavioral Problems Tour at Egyptian Theatre

March 24: Comedian Ron “Tater Salad” White is best known as the cigar smoking, scotch drinking funnyman from the “Blue Collar Comedy” phenomenon returns to DeKalb with his new stand-up show Behavioral Problems. Ron White has accomplished two Grammy nominations, a Gold Record, two of the top rated one-hour specials in Comedy Central history, a book that appeared on the New York Times Best Seller List, and CD and DVD sales of over 10 million units.

Big Air BMX Triples World Tour

March 20: All the excitement begins Saturday, March 20, at 7:30-10:00 pm. Tickets for the ASA BMX Triples go on sale Friday, November 13, starting at 10:00 a.m. Prices range from $37.00 for reserved floor seats to $22.00 for upper bowl seating. Action Sports event producer ASA Entertainment (ASA) kicks off its 2010 season with an ASA BMX Triples (Triples) event at Northern Illinois University’s Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois. On March 20th, the top men in freestyle BMX will take on the challenge of the 180-foot long BMX course consisting of a 25-foot high drop-in ramp, two 25-foot wide jumps and a course-ending quarter-pipe, all while grabbing ‘big air’ to perform their flips, flairs, whips and spins for the event title.

Athletes displaying their talents with great success at previous Triples events have included: two-time 2009 Triples event champion (Minneapolis and Orange County Fair) Ryan Guettler (Queensland, Australia), 2009 Chicago Triples event champion T.J. Ellis (Moreno Valley, California), Addison, Illinois’ Koji Kraft, and freestyle BMX stars Cory Nastazio (Flushing, New York), Rob Darden (Greenville, North Carolina) and Mike Spinner (Oceanside, New York). The head-to-head, single elimination format stretches the athletic limits of the competitors and brings the fans to the edge of their seats in suspense-filled anticipation of the outcome.
