Memorial donations coming in to
DeKalb/Sycamore Community Memorial Fund
Donations from all over the country are coming in to the DeKalb/Sycamore Community Memorial Fund. The fund was established by the DeKalb and Sycamore chambers of commerce in conjunction with the DeKalb County Community Foundation (a 501c3 non-profit corporation) following Thursday’s tragic shooting on the NIU campus.
“We have been truly touched by how many people have come forward with expressions of sympathy and support,” said Chuck Siebrasse, executive director of the
DeKalb Chamber of Commerce

“This community memorial fund allows an avenue for the many, many people who have contacted us with the desire to help in some way.”
“The DeKalb/Sycamore Community Memorial Fund will be used for some type of community memorial of the tragic incident Feb. 14, 2008, that took the lives of five NIU students,” said Rose Treml, executive director of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce.
The DeKalb and Sycamore chamber boards and staff members join those extending support, prayers and condolences to NIU.
Tax deductible donations in the form of checks to the DeKalb/Sycamore Community Memorial Fund may be sent to Community Memorial Fund at DCCF,

Donations may be made on-line via PayPal by visiting www.dekalb.org. PayPal is waiving all processing fees to ensure that 100% of the proceeds are contributed to the memorial. These donations can be made safely and securely with major credit cards or PayPal accounts.
“This is a close-knit community and we are all affected by this tragedy. This is a way for the community to help, and we are grateful to the DeKalb County Community Foundation and PayPal for helping us to facilitate this outpouring of support,” Siebrasse said.
